We're Going Greener!
The Celebration of Connecticut Farms is striving to be a zero-waste event. We encourage all vendors, volunteers, and guests to join us in our commitment to protect our environment by helping us expand our efforts to reduce waste, reuse, recycle, and compost. Here are some ways we are working to become more environmentally conscious:
Waste Reduction:
- Guests receive a rigid plastic serving tray in lieu of a disposable plate.
- Guests receive a wine glass and flatware which will be reused.
- Beer vendors serve from reusable kegs and jugs.
- Water dispensers are provided to eliminate plastic water bottles.
Reuse & Recycle:
- Decorations such as hay bales, plants, and table arrangements are "borrowed" and repurposed.
- Guests may purchase flowers in reusable containers.
- Sponsor bags are made of organic canvas.
- Cardboard, wine corks, aluminum, glass, and plastic bottles are recycled.
- Event materials printed on a minimum of 30% recycled paper.
Composting
- Vegetable and dairy food waste, serve ware, coffee grinds, wood spoons, paper towels, and shellfish are composted.
- Compostable serve ware is purchased and collected as compost.
- Biodegradable bags are used to collect compost.
